In recognition of her pioneering studies of Holothurin from some Philippine Holothurians (sea cucumbers). Her scientific contributions provide clues to the hemolytic activity, antitumor and anticancer mechanisms of the drug. Her studies demonstrate the reduction of the mutagenicity and clastogenecity potentials of holothurin by L-ascorbic acid. With the use of more advanced instrumentation, her findings suggest means of utilizing our sea cucumbers as cheap source of food for animals and man and for materia medica in the Philippines.
