In recognition of his outstanding research studies in the field of labor economics specifically in the econometric measurement of wage outcomes and inequality using more advanced econometric methodologies like semiparametric and nonparametric econometrics, which showed that the cause of wage inequality is the greater variability in returns to schooling and experience among workers.

His research contribution in the empirics of wage functional modeling has thereby assisted in advancing the state of econometrics education and research in the country.
