In recognition of her significant achievements in the field of biochemistry of various Philippine food crops- especially on biochemical factors affecting their nutritional and food quality. Moreover, her research has successfully resulted in the identification, purification and gene cloning of methionine-rich proteins in soybean as part of molecular strategies to increase methionine content, and thus, the nutritional quality of legumes.
