In recognition of his exemplary researches on different periods, themes, and issues in Philippine History- from local history, to public health, to imperialism during the Philippines revolution, to our diplomatic history. Besides excellence in his field, he is unique in the use of readable Filipino in almost all his writings. Such an unusual gift has enabled him to share his scholarship in Philippine history with school teachers and the public at large.
